Are You Covered?
Operator coverage and inspection frequencies have changed for Fully-Automated Industrial Wastewater Pretreatment Systems (FAIWPS). "Fully-Automated" systems are systems that, in the event of an out-of-spec occurrence, automatically shut down or temporarily hold the wastewater so it is not discharged until it can be properly treated. Fully-automated Grade 1 and 2 wastewater treatment systems no longer require daily operator coverage. The inspection is now only twice a week with someone on-call during operation.
Please reference the table which summarizes the new regulations on page 14 of the manual for Compliance Certification Instructions for Industrial Wastewater Sewer Connections issued by Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to give us a call!
